About this extension
Associated with non-profits but open to anyone without restriction. Since 2003 it has been run by Public Interest Registry (PIR), a non-profit founded by the Internet Society. Unlike .com it is a thick registry: registrant fields are part of the registry record itself, though for individuals they are redacted under privacy rules.

What a .org WHOIS record shows
The result page shows the registry's RDAP record: registrar and IANA id, abuse contact, dates, explained EPP status codes, nameservers and DNSSEC. Since ICANN retired the classic WHOIS requirement at the start of 2025, RDAP is the authoritative source for .org; an individual registrant's personal details are usually redacted.
Next to the registration data you get live DNS, SPF/DMARC, the TLS certificate, the HTTPS response and the abuse
history of the hosting addresses on ip-db.com. Type just a name
(e.g. example) and .org is added; the same data is available from the JSON API.
